GOP Response

Last night was just sad. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. Both Democrats and Republicans were shaking their heads on Bobby Jindal's coming-out weak-ass response to Obama's address to Congress. Bobby should have been down on Bourbon Street throwing back some bourbon.

Moments later, I was watching bits of Larry King, which I never do, as I saw a familiar face: former NBA hoopster Kevin Johnson, now Mayor of Sacramento. They were discussing Obama's speech and the sole Republican protagonist was Rep. Marsha Blackburn from Tennessee.

I cannot come to any conclusion other than that she is a dolt and a mouthpiece of the right. She said nothing constructive other than to utter her party's platform of tax cuts and reducing federal government spending. UGH!

Are the Republicans in such denial that THEY are the ones who spent like the dollar was going out of style when their homies blew up the federal government in the last eight years? Tax cuts aren't the fucking answer to our economy's ills. I suppose these conservatives are trying to conserve their loot after looting the government.

Here's a nice editorial from Dilbert:

Economic Stimulus. H.R. 5140, the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, passed 385-35 on January 29, 2008 (Roll Call 25). It would provide about $150 billion in economic stimulus, including $101.1 billion in direct payments of rebate checks (typically $600) to most taxpayers in 2008 and temporary tax breaks for businesses. Creating money out of thin air and then spending the newly created money cannot improve the economy, at least not in the long term. (If it could, why not create even more money for rebates and make every American a millionaire?) The stimulus has no offset and thus increases the federal deficit by the amount of the stimulus because the government must borrow the rebate money. A realistic long-term stimulus can only be achieved by lowering taxes through less government and by reducing regulatory burdens.Marsha Blackburn voted FOR this bill.(Source: The New American – July 21, 2008)

Marsha Blackburn is my Congressman.
She is no conservative.

That was last year's bill. Circumstances have certainly changed since. Tax breaks/cuts to folks with no income is meaningless. Frankly, if we just pulled out of Iraq and Afghanistan and plowed all that money into revitalizing America, we'll certainly be better off in the long-run.

Instead of buying bullets, how about bread? Instead of tanks, how about funding research and educations. Unlike yourself or myself, a lot Americans are quite dumb and useless.

Since we all want money, it would greatly benefit OUR country if we used taxpayers' money to improve taxpayers' quality of life.

Rep. Blackburn would have presented herself better if you actually said something substantial instead of the usual tax cuts and easing up on federal spending for a smaller government. At least the President is trying to doing something to rebuild the mess the Republicans have helped to bring about.
